Life in Sin City appears to always be in the "fast lane". I'm struggling right now to keep up, but I will eventually master this environment some how, some way.
So far I've joined a gym, been bowling, been to a minor league baseball game, had a night of pool, my first house party and tonight I'm going to hit up the Rio. I've only been here three days folks.
I've been snapping away with the trusty old Canon and will try to give some insight on what life is like here for me.
I hope spirits are high and life is treating everyone well.
I have about 12 hours of driving to do and am not looking forward to it. The end destination will be worth it.
To the couch I go to power nap. Catch you on here later folks.
***Update 12:03 PM, 4/23/2008***
So Oregon is pretty much the same as Washington right now. The weather is about the same and the people seem to be plucked right out of downtown Seattle.
So I say to Washington... so long to the delusional Washington weather. So long to all the Bremeloos. So long to all the people stuck in the 80's. So long. So long. So long.
Slolove - Janet Jackson - This is an older song, but while adding music to my iPod I rediscovered this one. I also added it to my "Running" playlist too.
4 Minutes - Madonna (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) - Very catchy song. I find myself hitting the repeat button. Madonna hasn't been relative since 2003 to me. I guess all it takes is a Justin Timberlake & Timbaland collaboration to make you hot. Whenever you two are ready come swoop me up.
Touch My Body(Remix) - Mariah Carey (feat. Rick Ross & The Dream) - I like this version better than the original.
Right and Wrong Way - Mario - Catchy remake of a classic song.
Partytime - Missy Elliot - This is also an older song, but I can't get the chorus outta my head.
She Doesn't Know My Name - Nelly (feat. Snoop Dogg & Ron Isley) - Another older song. I've always liked the hook and the concept of the song.
Headz Up(refried) - Nappy Roots - Forgotten tune, but it gets me moving. "Shawty where yo' headz at?"
Where You Are (Is Where I Wanna Be) - Donell Jones - Just a classic R&B love song from back in the day. This guy makes really good music.
Got Me Going - Day26 - Radio hit!
Ditch That... - The Dream - Most overlooked artist of 2007. It goes against me, but I like the direct nature of the song.
No Air - Jordin Sparks (feat. Chris Brown) - Why not? Pop music at it's best.
Stop and Stare - OneRepublic - This is just one of the hits from the album. If you haven't picked up this album, I suggest you do. I can listen to it cleaning, driving on Sunday, lounging or just because. Another standout track is "Come Home".
Elevator - Flo-Rida (feat. Timbaland) - Point me in the direction of an elevator fast.
Never to Late - Three Days Grace - A very good message driven song. Reminds me 3 Doors Down.
Hollywood's Not America - Ferras - It's a no "makeup" song. Everything is not what you see on TV.
The Light - Common - This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I think I posted about this song sometime ago. I really liked the intricate way Common described the perfect woman.
9 in the Afternoon - Panic at the Disco - New addition. Catchy
"I better get back to my place in line before I have to cut a bitch..." Is a phrase you don't say in front of black women. Especially black women who seem to have been sipping on some Old English and puffing on some herb. I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
Next thing I here is, "Bitch! You don't bring a knife to a gun fight, especially if you want to walk out alive."
I'm not one for believing in premonitions but I think that the two large black ladies might be carrying a gun in one of their purses that resembled a backpack. (Wait! I'm sorry those were their boobs. My bad! Sometimes a brother's vision is a little blurry.).
Back to the story. I'm not sure if the girl with the knife heard what the other girls had said or not. I do know she stayed in her place in line and didn't bother moving up with us.
So I'm technically not sure how long we have been couped up in this line, but I do know standing out in the cold is starting to wear on me. I just don't want to be the one that complains about standing out in the cold. I want to be the one that can just stand there quietly and wait it out because that's what people do. As I'm about the open my mouth to say lets go one of the other girls opens here mouth and says, "I'm tired of this shit, my feet hurt and I need a cigarette!".
Nice words from a woman's mouth don't you think. A real turn on if you ask me. Finally someone is on the same page as me and I'm happy as hell that everyone agrees to leave. As we all pile back into the broken down Taurus, the only thing on my mind is that radio. I'm praying to God that it doesn't work because if I have to hear that shit again I'm going to dive out of car and do my best tuck and roll and hope for the best. Anything is better than hearing that radio again. God was not listening to my prayers because the radio worked. Damn! Damn! Damn!
I know what just came across your mind and I assure you that it ran across my mind. "It can't get any worse!" "Oh, but it can and did."
After sifting through the shoes, clothes, papers, and just pure junk filth on the floor; I finally pick up my ear drums and get out of the car. I was thinking that I'm just going to get in my car and go home. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! She invited me in. I really don't think that she took a good look at my face because if she did, she would have known that I was ready to go home.
I proceeded to go into the house with her for some strange reason. I know, I should just gone home... but...
The story ends with me making a mad dash to my car and speeding back to Bremerton. I would have never ever thought that I would be excited to get back here, but I was.
Lesson learned and it won't happen again.
I have officially finished packing and waiting for the Navy to move me. I still have a couple of boxes to rummage through and some unwanted things to throw out. For the most part of it everything is packed away and seal for delivery.
Today I say to everyone, find something that makes you laugh.
