Well I'm Leaving...

on an that early flight to Vegas.

It's early here and I'm cranky, but my outlook is good because of my final destination. I had so much to do that I didn't get enough time to pack last night. I am up this morning trying to do laundry and get everything in order before I take flight.

The posts might be few to none, but I have my blackberry so I'll post when needed.

Hope everyone has a great week and I'll be checking your blogs from my phone when I find a sober minute. Salud!

Surprise! Surprise!

So I wake up this morning to a really nice surprise. I better rephrase the last thing I just stated. I was awaken by the loud intrusive ringer of my phone. I rollover and I can feel the steam starting sizzle off the top of my dome. I am thinking, "Who in the hell is calling me this morning, because they know that I am off work and if it's not important I'm going to tell the &^%$ off!"

I let out a groggy, "Hello."
On the other end I hear, "Did you get anything in the mail yesterday?" (It's Buddy Lee)
I reply, "I didn't check the mailbox, but I got a package from my mom for my birthday."

He tells me to go and check the mail because he sent something overnight. As pissed as I am I go downstairs and get the mail. I begin sifting through the mail until I come across what appears t be a birthday card from him. The steam begins to rise again. I'm thinking to myself, "I hope he didn't just wake me for a birthday card.

I say to him, "Did you just wake me for a birthday card that I would have eventually got today?"
He replies, "Yep!"

As I am about to let him have he says, "Just open it, fool."

Long story short. There was an itinerary for Seattle to Las Vegas.

Meaning: I am on my way to Vegas next week.

I guess it's a good thing that I had leave starting on Monday and all I need to do now is extend my leave until the end of the week.

Just thought I would come by and throw a post on here. It's been a while since I have posted. I haven't really had too much to write about and I am trying to avoid just putting things on here without substance.

There should be plenty of things to post in the coming week.

Se7en... About Me... Wouldn't Know

...I can't eat breakfast food without grape jelly.
...I never go barefoot, I always wear socks.
...I watch Oprah.
...I don't drink Kool-Aid or eat watermelon just because it's a stereotype, but I can't give up chicken.
...I always want to be James Bond
...I want my own theme song to play whenever I enter a room.
...I despise meatloaf or anything that resembles it.
Now I'm suppose to tag seven more people, but I don't have seven people that I know of so...
Thanks for a post idea kimmyk.

Bitch Power

So I'm still reading the same book by Rob Sheffield, when I come across this quote from Rick James in the book. It's from back in the day from a magazine interview. I've been sitting here trying to figure what was Rick thinking. I looked it up and found out what it exactly means, but I just want to know what you get out of?

"It's this kind of syndrome—where if a guy sees his girlfriend likin' somebody, that's called 'bitch-power.' Like Elvis Presley was hated by men, hated, 'cause he had bitch power. Teddy Pendergrass has bitch power, I just found out that I have a little bitch power. But beyond bitch power"—"I have something else, that men like—and that's the truth, and the down-to-earth shit, OK? So men don't mind bringin' their women to see me, 'cause I have bitch power but it's in another way. "

Blackberry Curve 8310

Say hello to my new friend.
Most of you know that I am a "techno" geek and like most things that are electronic and new, but I really wasn't looking to upgrade my last phone. I am transitioning out of the Navy and need to save as much money as I possibly can, but my last phone "shit the bed". This unfortunate situation has brought the phone you see up top into my life. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but as long as I can receive my calls and text message I am "A-OK".

The little booklet to the right is about to make me jump to my death. After 26 years of not having one, it's time for me to take another step towards adulthood and get a passport.

Being in the military has afforded me to travel all over the world without needing one. I never thought getting one would be that be of a deal, but it has become that way.

196.00 later I have one on the way.

Can You Hang?

The new year has just started and there is one way that I know this without looking at a calendar.

Do you know? ... "the gym" is packed and full of people that you have never seen there before. All the machines are full and all the weights are missing. The locker room is filled with naked dudes, matching jumpsuits and brand new running shoes. The air is light and it's almost hard to grasp because of all the heavy breathing going on around you.

It's not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions. It's only human to want to have a "new you" in the new year. So I say to everyone that seems to be blocking my fitness goals, "Sweat on, sweat on!". Just as long as everyone knows that setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a fitness program, and the key to success for those of you who made a New Year's commitment to get fit.

So the moral of this whole story has to do with the people that I work with. For all of you who don't know me, I am a big fitness buff. The group the people that I work with have elected me to help them get into shape for the new year before I make my transition out of the Navy.

Today was a big disaster. We did a light low impact workout today, nothing to strenuous. It seemed like the world was coming to an end by the look on their faces. A look that I can't describe, you just had to have been there. I don't think I have ever seen that much sweat come from 5 people in my life. It was like a flood in the gym. "Mops on deck!"

The good thing is that they all survived and will back for tomorrow's torture. They are baby steps closer to achieving some of their fitness goals.

Can they hang? I'll let you know a few weeks from now.

Sunday Memories #1

So I am currently reading this book by Rob Sheffield, Love is a Mixtape: Life and Loss, One Song at a Time. The title says everything you need to know about the book. I am only a few of chapters into the book, but I am really drawn in already.

Chapter 3 brought back memories for me. The chapter was about mixtapes. It broke down the way people used to make mixtape with cassettes. I would say CDs, but people don't make those anymore either. Most of us make playlists on our iPods. Damn evolution.

Back to the subject at hand. It brought back all kinds of memories when I used to sit in front of the radio and wait for my favorite songs to come on the radio and record them. I remember keeping a cassette in the radio. I would always cut off the intro of the song no matter how hard I tried not to and trying to make sure that I didn't get any part of the DJ talking at the end of the song was a task for me too. I wish I could have kept some of those cassettes because I would love to be put back in the original time and place when I first heard the songs.

The chapter goes on to break different mixtapes, so I decided to share a little bit of what kind of mixtapes (iPod Playlist) I have on my iPod.

Party Playlist
The Party Playlist is a list of songs that get the party started. It's full of songs that get everybody on the dance and keeps them moving for hours on end. It's the songs that you would expect to hear in the club. The songs have a certain quality, entertainment and a sound that lights you up.

example: Sexyback, Justin Timberlake

I Want You Playlist
The I Want You Playlist is full of songs that you plan on playing when the time is right. It's full of smooth and sensual songs to ease the clothes off the woman of your dreams. The songs say all the things that you want to say to a woman, but just can't say. The songs hit the spot for you and get you closer to hitting the spot.

example: I'll Make Love to You, Boyz II Men

You Broke My Heart Playlist
The You Broke my Heart Playlist is full of songs that only you know because they help you through the times when you are heartbroken. They get you to the point where you are about to cry or cry. They remind you of all the good times and especially the bad times that the relationship brought to the table. It's full of songs that make you want to sit in the dark with a beer and just sing along. It's makes it even better when you are tone deaf because it makes you want to sing them even louder.

example: Last Request, Paolo Nutini

"Grant my last request and just let me hold you, don't shrug your shoulders
Lay down beside me
Sure I can accept that we're going nowhere
But one last time let's go there
Lay down beside me"

The Road Trip Playlist

The Road Trip Playlist is a collection of great driving music and road trip tunes so that you can feel like you're not on the road. It's the playlist that comes out when me and fellas either go hiking or snowboarding. It's full of songs that everyone knows and if you don't know the songs you fake it.

example: You Shook Me All Night Long, ACDC

Updating Blog

I thought that it was time for an update to the blog. The Halloween theme blog was getting old and since one of my New Year's resolutions was to get more people reading my blog, I figured it was time to change.

"Gonna sell my car and go to Vegas
'Cause somebody told me
That's where dreams would be
Gonna sell my car and go to Vegas
Finally see my name upon the Palace marquis"

"The cat is finally out of the bag." I've never been sure what the hell that phrase meant. Who in there right mind would put a cat in a bag and what cat would let someone put it in a bag. Not really sure why I used that phrase, but it just sounded right tonight.

I wasn't going to officially say anything until March, but I really didn't feel like lying about it anymore. I wanted to hold out on telling everyone, but I put a subliminal message on my Myspace. Slowly but surely everyone is starting to pick up on it.

So there I have said and now everyone knows. Well not everyone, but the number of people who know is rising.

"It's official!"

Happy New Year, Folks!

Hope that all your dreams and wishes come true.
